X1 is a high-performance blockchain built as an SVM (Solana Virtual Machine) fork — meaning smart contracts written for Solana run natively on X1, and wallets that support the Solana ecosystem can connect directly to X1's network. The project is moving at an exceptionally fast pace, with new infrastructure, DeFi protocols, and ecosystem tools shipping on an almost weekly cadence. Setting up a wallet is your first step into this ecosystem — here's how to do it on every platform available today.
Option 1: X1 Wallet — Chrome Extension (Recommended for Desktop)
The dedicated X1 Wallet is the cleanest way to interact with X1 Blockchain on a desktop browser. It's purpose-built for X1 and requires zero configuration — install it and you're connected.
Installation Steps
- Open Google Chrome and visit the X1 Wallet on the Chrome Web Store.
- Click Add to Chrome, then confirm by clicking Add extension in the popup.
- Once installed, click the X1 Wallet icon in your browser toolbar (pin it for easy access via the puzzle-piece Extensions menu).
- Choose Create a new wallet or Import an existing wallet using your seed phrase if you're migrating from Backpack or Phantom.
- Write down your seed phrase and store it somewhere safe — offline, never in a cloud note or screenshot. This is the only way to recover your wallet.
- Set a password and you're done. Your wallet is connected to X1 mainnet by default.
The X1 Wallet extension gives you a native X1 experience — your XNT balance displays correctly, transactions are labelled properly, and dApps on X1 will recognize it automatically.
Option 2: Backpack Wallet + Custom RPC (Best for Mobile)
Backpack is the leading SVM-compatible wallet available on iOS and Android. Because X1 is an SVM fork, Backpack can connect to X1's network using a custom RPC endpoint — no separate app needed. The trade-off is cosmetic: XNT will appear as SOL in your balance (1 XNT = 1 SOL in the display), because Backpack doesn't yet have native X1 token labelling. Your funds are real XNT on the X1 chain — the label is purely visual.
How to Connect Backpack to X1
- Download Backpack from the App Store or Google Play (also available as a browser extension for desktop).
- Create or import a wallet as normal. If you already have a Solana wallet in Backpack, you can use the same account on X1 — the address format is identical.
- Tap the settings gear icon (bottom-right corner of the app).
- Tap the wallet icon near the top of the settings screen.
- Select Networks.
- Select Solana.
- Tap RPC Connection.
- Select Custom.
- Enter the X1 mainnet RPC URL:
https://rpc.mainnet.x1.xyz - Save and return to your wallet. You'll see a confirmation that you're connected to a custom network.
Once connected, your Backpack wallet is live on X1 mainnet. You can send and receive XNT, interact with dApps like XDEX, and sign transactions — all from your phone. Remember that your balance will show as SOL in the Backpack UI, but on-chain it is XNT.
X1 Wallet for iOS and Android — Coming Soon
The native X1 Wallet app is currently in development for both iOS and Android. When it launches, mobile users will get the same seamless experience as the Chrome extension — with correct XNT labelling, native dApp browser integration, and no manual RPC setup required. Until then, Backpack with the custom RPC above is the recommended mobile option.
Getting XNT: Your First Tokens
Once your wallet is set up, you'll need XNT to do anything on X1 — pay gas fees, stake, trade on XDEX, and participate in the ecosystem. There are two main ways to get your first XNT:
Bridge USDC from Solana (Easiest First Step)
X1 runs an official bridge that lets you move USDC from Solana to X1's native USDC.x. As an incentive for new users, your first USDC bridge from Solana to X1 automatically grants a small amount of XNT to your wallet — enough to cover your initial gas fees and make your first swap on XDEX. This means you don't need to source XNT from an exchange first; just bridge any amount of USDC and you'll land on X1 with gas money ready to go.
Buy XNT Directly
For larger amounts, or if you want to buy XNT without going through the bridge first, our complete guide to buying XNT covers every method: centralized exchanges, DEX trading on XDEX, and bridging from other chains. It's the recommended read before your first purchase.
Quick Tips for New Users
- Never share your seed phrase. No legitimate project, team member, or support agent will ever ask for it.
- Bookmark official URLs. Always access dApps from links on the official links page — phishing sites mimicking X1 projects do exist.
- Keep a small XNT buffer. Gas fees on X1 are extremely low, but you always need a tiny balance to sign transactions. The USDC bridge airdrop covers this for new users.
- X1 is fast. With ~400ms block times, transactions confirm almost instantly — don't mistake speed for something going wrong.
With your wallet installed and funded, you're ready to explore the X1 ecosystem — from trading on XDEX to staking with the X1 Foundation delegation program. Welcome to X1.
